Kissing with braces, a beginners guide!

Step1
Relax and lose the tension if you have any. If you're stressed out about kissing someone who has braces, it will be a very difficult to be a good kisser. Take a deep breath and realize that if your very first kiss doesn't go perfectly, it's not the end of the world, besides practice makes perfect.
Step2
Its best to wait at least a month or so after someone gets braces to kiss them to ensure that most of the initial soreness in their mouth has diminished or is gone competely.. The person with the braces will be more comfortable kissing you after some time has elapsed.
Step3
For the gentle approach, approach your partner with your lips closed when you kiss. Nothing takes the fun out of kissing more than smashing your teeth up against rigid metal.
Step3
For the gentle approach, approach your partner with your lips closed when you kiss. Nothing takes the fun out of kissing more than smashing your teeth up against rigid metal.
Step4
You should kiss your partner gently. If you kiss too hard, you could hurt your lips against the metal or even damage the braces. It is wiser to start off slowly and gently so this doesn't happen.
Step5
Tips for kissing with braces if you are French kissing:
You should move your tongue gently in the mouth if you are French kissing. You should also avoid touching the braces with your tongue. Most of the current types of orthodontic braces have been greatly improved over what was used in the past, depending on what kind of braces your partner is wearing, it is possible that you could still cut your tongue on a sharp bracket or tie.
Who should consider braces?
If you have any of the following, it is possible that you are a candidate for orthodontic treatment:
Overbite, sometimes called "buck teeth" — where the upper front teeth lie too far forward (stick out) over the lower teeth
Spacing — gaps, or spaces, between the teeth as a result of missing teeth or teeth that do not "fill up" the mouth
Crossbite — when the upper teeth do not come down slightly in front of the lower teeth when biting together normally
Misplaced midline— when the center of your upper front teeth does not line up with the center of your lower front teeth
Underbite — a "bulldog" appearance where the lower teeth are too far forward or the upper teeth too far back
Crowding — when there are too many teeth for the dental ridge to accommodate
Open bite — space between the biting surfaces of the front and/or side teeth when the back teeth bite together
Croydon Orthodontist explains why braces are not just for kids

Braces are not only for kids. Presently, 20% of the orthodontic patients are over 18; people as old as 60 have had successful orthodontic treatment.
Advantage of wearing braces in adults:
1. Good alignment of teeth even at older age.
2.Affordable.
3.Will take care of braces properly avoiding foods that have to be avoided like junk-foods an other damaging foods.
4.Adults tend to take better care of teeth than kids do.
What are the types of braces available for adults?
Fixed braces—the traditional kind that attach to teeth— generally require 9 to 30 months to work, no matter what your age. After the braces are removed, both adults and young people will have to wear a retainer—a removable appliance that keeps teeth from shifting into their previous positions—for about six months, every day, and then only at night for several years. Adults may have to use a retainer for a longer period of time than younger people. While the stigma of wearing braces as an adult has all but disappeared, most people prefer not to show a mouth full of metal when they smile. Fortunately, cosmetic options such as ceramic or "tooth-colored" braces; lingual braces that fit behind the teeth; and "clear," removable "braces" such as Invisalign®, are available. No matter what you and your orthodontist decide on, fixed braces generally have to be adjusted every five to eight weeks, depending on the stage of treatment. Invisalign®, which consists of a series of removable clear trays, generally requires fewer and shorter doctor’s visits.

Treatments available
There are three main types of brace used to correct orthodontic problems. These are removable, functional and fixed braces. Removable braces are made of acrylic and wire. They are used to correct more simple problems. Functional braces are a pair of removable braces used in growing children to help correct the relationship of the top and bottom jaws.
Fixed braces are composed of small brackets which have a special slot which contains a three dimensional prescription to move the teeth into their correct position. The brackets are attached to the teeth using a special adhesive. A thin wire is then inserted into the bracket slots and the two components work together to straighten your teeth. There are several different types of fixed braces.
Retention
At the end of treatment retainers are provided to help maintain the teeth in their perfect position. Retainers may be removable or bonded.
Adult treatment
We offer treatment to people of all ages. It is never too late to create that perfect smile you've always dreamt of, giving you the confidence to present yourself in the way you want to. There is a selection of braces to choose from:
Labial fixed braces
These are composed of small brackets which are bonded to the teeth. The brackets may be made of stainless steel but some adults prefer to opt for the aesthetic tooth coloured braces which are used with initial tooth coloured archwires.
Self Ligating braces: for faster treatment!
Self litigating bracket systems reduce the friction between the wire and bracket allowing for more effective and efficient tooth movements with less force. This decreases the duration of treatment and any discomfort associated with forces applied to the teeth. At Orchard Orthodontics we use the Damon
system (www.damonbraces.com). Damon incorporates a revolutionary 'sliding door' to hold special wires in position.
Invisalign
Invisalign is a treatment system that uses a series of custom made clear removable aligners which fit over your teeth. An impression is taken of your teeth and sent to California to create a stimulation of your tooth alignment. Each aligner is programmed to produce minute changes to your teeth to allow them to move into their correct position.
Lingual Braces (tongue side)
Lingual braces are fitted on the inner (tongue side) of the teeth, completely obscuring their view. They are well suited for people who do not wish to show a brace at all.
Initial Consultation
Your treatment is tailored to meet your specific needs. At your initial appointment a complete orthodontic assessment is completed and you have the opportunity to fully discuss your orthodontic problems, your aspirations for treatment and the options available to you.
All children under the age of 18 are seen free of charge for the initial consultation. For adults there is a consultation fee which is GBP 47* This becomes free of charge if you go ahead with treatment.
Treatment cost The overall cost of treatment depends on the duration of treatment and the type of brace you chose.
